The Role

The Regional Commercial Manager is responsible for leading commercial performance across the region working with the Head of Operations and Regional General Managers to maximise performance across occupancy, income, and cost of sales.

The Regional Commercial Manager is an expert in both sales and revenue management with a strong understanding of marketing as they have to translate the various central and local initiatives into a cohesive regional commercial strategy and plan. They are a key part of the Regional Leadership Team headed up by the Head of Operations. The Regional Commercial Manager will also be accountable for providing coaching and mentoring to the property leaders within cities, working closely with the Area General Managers to deliver our commercial targets. The Regional Commercial Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of all commercial activities for our challenge cities, taking accountability for the performance of these properties along with the Regional Area General Managers.

What You`ll Be Doing

  • Leads annual budgeting and planning process for their region; sets annual commercial objectives and develops regional strategic plans to achieve objectives; leads the building of the pricing proposition across the cities in the region, ensuring revenue is maximised and the proposition is aligned to the wider city strategy
  • Responsible for driving and maximising sales performance in each city across all key KPI metrics, with specific focus upon pricing and revenue management; leads activation of these plans in key cities together with the relevant Regional Area General Managers
  • Creates multi-year commercial plans focussed on driving revenue, brand loyalty and expansion across different segments; leads on providing regional input into the design and operations of these central commercial plans
  • Responsible for identifying and ensuring plans are put in place to address any shortcomings in the delivery of sales targets, sales processes and KPI`s within each city
  • Works with the central brand team to define targeting of customer segments for specific properties
  • Coordinates UK domestic and international marketing performance activity including working with central marketing teams and local property teams to ensure campaigns land properly in cities; when required, lead the creation of local marketing plans
  • Evaluates and tracks revenue performance of cities in the geographic portfolio vs. their performance targets
  • Accountable for the development and delivery of commercial plans for all challenge cities in partnership with the Regional Area General Managers and Property General Managers
  • Leads any pilots of new commercial initiatives to help develop best in class commercial tools
  • Owns key relationships with Area and Property GMs on trading and business performance matters
  • Develop programs to increase sharing of best practices across the different departments and regions
  • Supports delivery of commercial training to his/her region
  • Manages the monthly sales performance and marketing meetings with Regional Area General Managers and senior city staff, with documented action plans including forecasted risks and opportunities
  • Liaises with the short stay/business development and international team to ensure all opportunities for backfill and summer are exploited by city
  • Provides strategic input into all papers in working with Performance Committee to develop the commercial element of the City Strategy work
  • Provides support to the Regional Management Teamwhen dealing with nominations agreements including providing recommendations on pricing/SVB impact, use of standardised proposal documents, getting contracts produced and mapping
  • Monitors and delivers non-core income across all channels including summer group and DL business and business development income
  • Monitors the accuracy of proposition changes throughout the year, ensuring that any changes support the delivery of business objectives

What We`re Looking for in You

  • Experience in leadership roles with profitable revenue driving related work experience, including development and execution of strategic and tactical sales, channels, revenue and marketing programs in a regional or multi-unit corporate setting or similar with experience managing multiple brands or products
  • Strong technical knowledge of using sales and revenue generating platforms (e.g. booking engine, website)
  • Extensive experience driving a local sales and marketing-led customer acquisition business
  • Deep understanding of working with B2B clients
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategy for field operations in various market situations, as well as influencing operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of effective sales processes, including closing ability, ability to motivate sales staff and ability to develop a successful sales and marketing team
  • Demonstrated experience managing/executing local / regional projects from conception to implementation
  • Ability to take the sales lead, support the development and embedding of a strong business wide sales culture
  • Experience of working collaboratively to help support the overall regional operations team deliver its business plan and broader objectives
  • Ability to create a `best practice` approach in all cities
  • Ability to run quarterly sales events for the regional management team and sales specialist roles
  • Ability to analyse data and identify where improvements can be made
  • Experience coaching team members to show improved results
  • Demonstratable experience influencing others across all levels of the business
