The IT Project Manager provides a key role within the IT team and wider business, working closely with IT colleagues, internal customers and external partners to implement technology projects helping Unite Students to achieve its business goals.
What you`ll be doing
- Working within Unite Students` project delivery framework to ensure that IT projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, including the creation and maintenance of project plans, managing resources, working with third parties and strategic partners
- Manage a portfolio of IT projects including reporting, deliverables, and benefits tracking
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Ensure budgets are managed by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions
- Liaise and communicate effectively with stakeholders across IT and the business to ensure alignment to deliver the project
- Manage 3rd party suppliers to deliver to time, cost and quality
- Ensure Risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies are managed effectively
- Monitor progress against project plan and budget, correcting and / or escalating abnormal situations
- Select, lead and motivate all individuals allocated to the project ensuring that all project activities are carried out in accordance with the appropriate standards
- Maintain a good working knowledge of other areas of the business, and activities of our competitors; keep up to date with trends and developments within the Technology sector
What we`re looking for in you
- In-depth experience in IT implementation projects including Infrastructure, Integration, Data and Software Development projects
- Proven track record for planning, executing, controlling, and closing IT projects and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Must have excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise your own and others` workloads
- Able to translate IT terminology into clear language that non-IT colleagues can understand
- Experience in both agile and waterfall methodologies
- Excellent client facing and internal communication skills
- Good understanding of project management principles, ideally with PMP/ Prince 2 certification
- Must have excellent analytical skills
- Experience of preparing and managing project budgets
- Able to take responsibility for driving tasks/projects forward and will be resilient in the face of setbacks, you will be able to adapt plans and timescales to changes in circumstances
- Basic understanding of data protection legislation and experience of developing and maintaining a team environment where personal data is kept protected, confidential and secure
