The Role

The Digital Information Manager - Building Safety & Asset Data is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and governance of Unite Students` digital asset information systems, with a focus on GliderBIM and compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022. The role also holds responsibility for ensuring GliderBIM delivers ongoing value to its users, including operational teams, data and analytics, capital projects, and compliance functions. The postholder will oversee system adoption, training, user support (with Level 1 admin support), and continuous improvement, ensuring the system is both compliant and effective in day-to-day use.

The role bridges technical teams, business stakeholders, and operational users to ensure seamless integration, performance, and value delivery of these systems.

What You`ll Be Doing

Strategic Management

  • Define and maintain the digital information strategy for asset and safety data, aligned with ISO 19650, Building Safety Act, and internal governance frameworks.
  • Lead on the establishment and continuous improvement of OIR, AIR, EIR, PIR in partnership with Estates, Data Governance, and Capital teams.
  • Work with system owners and architects to ensure data standards and architecture support integrations into Salesforce, Property Management Systems, and Capital Project systems.

Service Delivery and Performance

  • Act as functional lead for GliderBIM, ensuring data structures, tagging standards (currently UniClass, COBie), and document flows are correctly configured and maintained.
  • Oversee implementation of remediation programmes identified in configuration gap analysis.
  • Lead on defining data assurance, reporting frameworks, and dashboard development for compliance.

Operational Oversight

  • Ensure that Safety Case Files, verification, and structured building data are accurate and accessible.
  • Coordinate across programmes to ensure handover data and documentation meet standards.
  • Monitor and enhance data flows into the Operational Data Configuration model and downstream platforms.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with Estates, Facilities, Data Governance, H&S, Capital Projects, and Enterprise Architecture.
  • Partner with external consultants to produce standardised BIM templates and enforceable standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships and Glider support partners for system improvements.

Service Ownership & Usability

  • Own the end-to-end experience of GliderBIM across all users.
  • Work with IT Service Desk to triage and improve support processes, supported by Level 1 admin resources.
  • Lead training and engagement initiatives to increase adoption and competence.
  • Act on user feedback and analytics to improve configuration and usability.
  • Define and monitor KPIs for user satisfaction, usage, and value realisation.

Continual Improvement and Innovation

  • Champion the role of GliderBIM in enabling digital twins, automated compliance, and predictive planning.
  • Lead initiatives to improve data transparency and access.
  • Establish processes for training, support, and user engagement.

What We`re Looking for in You

Essential

  • Experience managing Common Data Environments (e.g., GliderBIM, Viewpoint).
  • Knowledge of ISO 19650, UniClass, COBie, and Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Experience in data assurance, BIM strategy, and structured data management.
  • Familiarity with document control and metadata management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with Salesforce or integration platforms.
  • Client-side construction or asset management background.
  • Awareness of security standards and digital risk.
  • BIM Level 2, ISO 19650 Practitioner, or Glider training.
