We are Unite Students, a progressive FTSE250 company and the leading provider of purpose-built student accommodation in the UK. We are looking for talented Joiners to welcome into our Central Operations team as Estates Team Leaders, to help us provide an outstanding service to the students who call US Home.

You will be responsible for a small team of carpentry and joinery specialists, and will support our teams to maintain a well-kept, safe, secure, compliant, and efficient environment across your region. This includes ensuring your team provides an effective carpentry/joinery service quickly and efficiently so that we can provide our students with a world-class and responsive service.

We have 3 regions available:

  • Scotland (Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh)
  • North East of England (Leeds, Sheffield, Durham and Newcastle)
  • North West of England (Manchester and Liverpool)

You will be able to:

  • Take responsibility for ensuring compliance with all relevant Health and Safety assessments and monitoring, ensuring compliance across the region
  • Support the Regional Engineering Manager to build and develop a motivated, engaged, and high-performance team
  • Support the training and development of your team members to help them reach their potential
  • Take accountability for your team`s performance, actively participating in performance management conversations and personal development plans

You will lead and motivate your team to:

  • Provide a first fix, flooring, roofing, stairs, skirting, moulding service
  • Work with suited locking systems both mechanical and electronic
  • Repair windows and specifying on replacements
  • Maintain and adjust doors, making sure they comply with fire regulations

What we`re looking for in you:

  • You will be able to confidently lead your team to maintain exceptional customer service
  • You will be a qualified carpenter/joiner to a minimum of City and Guilds level 3, or NVQ 2 equivalent in a wood trade
  • You will have experience working within a commercial carpentry or joinery role
  • You will communicate effectively, by actively listening, making points logically, and by using appropriate language, tone, and gesture
  • You remain calm and focussed, even in difficult or pressurised situations
  • You are detail-orientated, nothing escapes your eye
  • You understand and respect the diversity of others` cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds

The other stuff:

  • You will be working 5 days a week, on 8-hour shifts between 8am and 8pm Monday -Sunday
